The Griffin Core by Campos drivers sealed the 2025 teams’ title for the squad already on Saturday. It was a weekend of outstanding results for both Griffin Core by Campos and Campos Racing drivers, with Strauven, Przyrowski, Kanthan, Costa and Monteiro all scoring podium finishes at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Ryba also matched his best result of the season
The predictions came true, and the 2025 F4 Spain season delivered a second crown for the Alzira-based outfit in the series. A few weeks ago, it was Thomas Strauven who clinched the drivers’ title, and at the final round held at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya it was Griffin Core by Campos’ turn to secure the teams’ championship. The decisive blow came thanks to the performances of the Belgian and his teammate Jan Przyrowski, who locked out the top two positions in Saturday’s race to tip the scales in favour of Griffin Core by Campos.
The season finale yielded extremely positive results for the Valencian structure, with victory for Strauven, two podiums for Przyrowski, and further podium appearances for Vivek Kanthan – the American’s first overall podium – and for Miguel Costa and Noah Monteiro in the rookies’ class, the latter three competing under the Campos Racing banner. Griffin Core by Campos driver Matúš Ryba also enjoyed a strong weekend on Catalan soil, equalling his best finish of the year.
In Saturday morning’s free practice, Strauven and Przyrowski emerged as the fastest with benchmark lap times of 1m42.133s and 1m42.275s respectively. Unexpectedly, the free practice results would set the grid for Race 1 after a timing system issue at the Circuit forced the cancellation of Q1. This meant Costa lined up fourth (1m42.661s), with Ryba and Monteiro sixth and seventh. The Slovak stopped the clock at 1m42.773s, compared to the Portuguese driver’s 1m42.894s. Kanthan was classified fourteenth.
The first race of the weekend began in the afternoon, with Strauven and Przyrowski holding onto their front-row positions when the lights went out. The two Griffin Core by Campos drivers broke away at a rapid pace, trading fastest laps multiple times and pulling clear of the field. Costa held fourth place, while Monteiro ran in sixth. Ryba lost a few spots but remained close to the top ten, while Kanthan was forced to pit after suffering a puncture. In the second half of the race, Strauven increased his pace and opened a gap to Przyrowski, who focused on consolidating second place. After 19 laps, Strauven crossed the line to secure his tenth win of the season. Przyrowski was second, while Costa and Monteiro finished fourth and fifth – also taking second and third in the rookies' podium. Ryba and Kanthan ended further down the order following their visits to the pits.
Sunday began with a soaked track, leading to a highly unpredictable Q2 due to traffic and spray. In such conditions, Strauven was the best-placed Griffin Core by Campos representative in tenth position, ahead of Kanthan. Ryba (14th), Przyrowski (16th), Costa (19th) and Monteiro (22nd) all paid the price for a very complicated qualifying session.
The second race of the weekend, scheduled for mid-morning and set for 25 minutes, had its grid defined by the fastest laps from Saturday’s race. Kanthan lined up in second position, with Ryba fifth and Strauven seventh. Przyrowski, starting eleventh, was within striking distance of the top ten. The race began behind the safety car, which led to a rolling start, after which Kanthan immediately set off in pursuit of leader Reno Francot. Strauven quickly climbed to fifth, ahead of Ryba. The safety car returned to the track after four laps, with the race restarting three laps later. Kanthan remained within reach of Francot throughout and ultimately secured a well-deserved second place. Strauven and Ryba took the chequered flag in fifth and sixth, while Przyrowski won an intense battle against René Lammers to finish eighth and score more points. Monteiro concluded his comeback drive in 12th place, four spots ahead of Brazilian teammate Costa.
The third and final race, closing the curtain on the season, saw another all-out attack from both Strauven and Przyrowski. After just one lap they were already up to sixth and seventh. Monteiro’s race, however, ended prematurely after contact from another driver put him out and triggered a safety car. Racing resumed on lap four, with Strauven attempting an overtake on Juan Cota – but the duel allowed Przyrowski to pass both of them. Shortly after, Strauven also got ahead of Cota. The pair then gained another position after overtaking Alfio Spina. From there to the finish, both ran nose-to-tail in fourth and fifth behind Lammers. However, a five-second penalty for Lammers due to exceeding track limits promoted Przyrowski to third place, with Strauven finishing fourth. Kanthan and Ryba secured more points with ninth and tenth. Costa, like Monteiro, was unable to finish.
After seven meetings and 21 races, Strauven ends the season on top of the standings with 392 points, with Przyrowski finishing third on 225 – the Polish driver just ten points shy of the runner-up spot. Monteiro and Kanthan, both in their debut single-seater season, conclude the year eighth and ninth in the drivers’ standings and second and third respectively among the rookies. In the teams’ standings, Griffin Core by Campos is crowned champion with 558 points, while Campos Racing secures fourth place.
The 2025 season is over. Preparations for 2026 are already underway.
