Siebert and Campos Racing close out the season with double podium finish in Barcelona. Benavides makes strong debut

Argentina’s driver finished 2nd on Saturday after securing another pole position in the morning. Siebert took 3rd on Sunday to secure his third place in the overall standings. Benavides completed a strong debut in the series with ninth in race 1

Campos Racing continued its streak of podium finishes at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, where the Euroformula F3 Open season came to an end. The Alzira-based team arrived in Barcelona with a two-car assault consisting of Marcos Siebert, who was fighting for the 3rd place in the Drivers’ standings, and USA’s Brad Benavides, who made his debut in the series in Campos Racing colors.

After testing and free practice sessions on Thursday and Friday, Campos Racing and its drivers headed into Q1 on Saturday morning. Just like in Jerez two weeks ago, Siebert posted the pole position time with a lap of 1.40.657s in a difficult qualifying session after overnight rain. With Siebert on pole position, whose time was two tenths faster than Felipe Drugovich’s qualifying time, Benavides lined up 13th on the starting grid with his 1m43.215s. In the afternoon, Siebert led the field until a restart following a safety car period when Drugovich passed him for the lead. Siebert still kept rivals at bay to finish second. Benavides made an impression on his debut by finishing ninth.

On Sunday, Siebert qualified third in Q2 with a lap time of 1m38.415s. Benavides improved his qualifying effort by clocking a 1m39.035s to take the 11th spot on the grid. Later in the race, Siebert ran in third place for the entire race and stepped onto the podium once again. Benavides was forced to retire in the second race.

Following these results, Siebert secured third place in the Drivers’ standings after achieving a win and six podiums.
