The Swiss driver will contest the final round of the FIA Formula 2 Championship ahead of his full-season campaign with Campos Racing next year. Boschung will line up next to Brazilian Samaia in Sakhir
Campos Racing is pleased to announce Swiss driver Ralph Boschung for the final appointment of the 2020 FIA Formula 2 Championship season, which will take place at Bahrain International Circuit, after Jack Aitken was promoted by Williams Racing to Formula 1.
Boschung, who was confirmed earlier this week as a full-season driver at Campos Racing next year, will get a chance to make an early debut with the team this weekend. Boschung, a skilled Formula 2 racer, will be able to be on the pace right from the off at the wheel of his Dallara F2 2018.
Campos Racing new signing Boschung and Brazilian Guilherme Samaia will start the race weekend with aim of continuing the work carried out during the recent races in the series.
The twelfth round will see a revised outer track for this weekend, instead of the usual Grand Prix layout. The new circuit features just 10 corners and three long straights and, at three and a half kilometres, will be the second shortest on the calendar. It will make time gaps even closer. In comparison to last weekend, this time the cars will run lower downforce. Besides, it will also be harder on the brakes but tire wear and degradation are expected to be similarly high.
Free practice and qualifying sessions take place on Friday at 13.05 and 14.45 respectively. Saturday’s feature race is scheduled at 13.10 with Sunday’s sprint race getting underway at 13.20. All times are CET.
Adrián Campos (Team Principal of Campos Racing): “We are glad to have Ralph with us this weekend as it will give us a nice opportunity to start working together for next year. In such a professional racing environment, it is a golden chance for everybody. We expect to have a strong run in Sakhir with our drivers Ralph and Guilherme. We are looking forward to racing on this new layout, which looks exciting.”
