Italy´s Pulcini almost hits jackpot with win and second place on French soil. Menchaca, with double podium finish, now places third overall. Moreno finished 8th in Race 2 and Adbdullayev finished 6th twice in the Rookie classification

2016 EuroFormula Open´s French venue ended in a very positive way for Campos Racing. Italian Leonardo Pulcini strengthened his points lead over his rivals at Paul Ricard by winning on Sunday and taking second place on Saturday. On the other hand, Mexican Diego Menchaca has twice stepped onto the rostrum with his Campos Racing-entered Dallara F312.

On Friday, Pulcini took third place in the cumulative rankings during practice sessions. Both Menchaca and Ecuadorian Julio Moreno also finished into the top-ten. Gulhuseyn Abdullayev also put valuable experience under his belt with three 30-minute test sessions.

On Saturday morning, Pulcini secured row two start by posting 4th-quickest lap time despite he couldn´t put his best sectors together. Menchaca took seventh place on the grid and Moreno 9th. At the start, Pulcini moved up to third. Behind, Menchaca was storming up from 7th on the grid and, after a few corners, made his way up to 4th. Pulcini still gained another place when Damiano Fioravanti spun and remained in win contention until the very end. Finally, he crossed the finish line second. Menchaca finished third. Adbullayev took 6th place home in the Rookie classification. Moreno was forced to retire.

On Sunday, Pulcini enjoyed a dramatic battle in Q2 finally securing second place. His teammates Menchaca and Moreno took 5th and 12th this time. This time, Abdullayev was 17th. As soon as the lights went off, Pulcini took the lead. With his pace, nobody could have match him and cruised to win. Menchaca, again brilliant on the first lap, claimed another 3rd place. Moreno took the checkered flag 8th and Abdullayev came 16th and 6th rookie classified.

The next round will take place at Silverstone on 23-24 July.
