Palou and Schothorst faced technical issues in Barcelona. Tereschenko´s off-track compromised weekend

The trio of Campos Racing couldn´t achieve the expected results but still showed speed and talent and stakes are high for Red Bull Ring

Although the effort made by Campos Racing and their drivers didn´t pay off at the GP3 Series´ season opener, they all were competitive despite circumstances didn´t allow to show their full potential at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Russia´s Konstantin Tereschenko ran wide on Friday, during the free practice session, and made contact with the barrier, which damaged the car. It would be a setback for the rest of the weekend. Yet more drama in qualifying when Spaniard Álex Palou experienced gearbox sensor issues and, as a result, he couldn´t set a competitive lap time, starting from last on Saturday. His teammates Dutch Steijn Schothorst and Tereschenko qualified 14th and 19th on the grid.

Schothorst, who was having a trouble-free weekend so far, experienced clutch problems in race one bringing an early end for the Dutch driver. Tereschenko and Palou, from the back of the field, finished 17th and 22nd even though Barcelona is a track where it´s so difficult to clear the rivals. In race two, Palou spearheaded Campos Racing efforts finishing 14th. Behind, Tereschenko and Scothorst came 21st and 22nd.

The GP3 Series resumes in July at Red Bull Ring.
