French racer Falchero finished tenth on Saturday and improved to come ninth on Sunday. Siebert and Hyman’s chances were ruined due to incidents in Race one
Julien Falchero scored decent points at the penultimate race weekend of the GP3 Series at the Circuito de Jerez. His teammates Raoul Hyman and Marcos Siebert had less luck throughout the weekend and after an eventful race one on Saturday their chances faded away.
During the qualifying session on Friday, the trio of Campos Racing drivers faced some problems to set competitive lap times as they encountered traffic on their flying laps. Besides, their lack of experience in Jerez also played a decisive role and they were forced to start from the back of the grid. Falchero clocked a lap of 1:31.707 to line up 14th on the grid. Siebert ended up with an identical lap time and took 15th spot. Finally, Hyman started from 17th on the grid with a lap time of 1:31.984.
Falchero put it a remarkable recovery drive on Saturday to finish tenth after 23 laps. Both Hyman and Siebert were forced to pit due to wings changes following first lap incidents. As a result, they finished 18th (Siebert) and 19th (Hyman).
On Sunday, Falchero gained one place and came ninth. Further adrift from the back of the field, Hyman finished 15th and Siebert two places behind as it’s extremely difficult to overtake at the Circuito de Jerez.
The season will come to an end at the Yas Marina Circuit on 25-26 November.
