The Corsican driver finished 3rd among privateers contenders in the second Moroccan race. In Race 1 he ranked 5th. Valente, with the second Chevrolet fielded by Campos Racing, took 2nd sport in race two but the Frenchman was given a 30-second penalty.
John Filippi has achieved two strong results in the streets of Marrakech, where the second round of the World Touring Car Championship took place, driving the Chevrolet RML Cruze TC1 of Campos Racing. Filippi managed to avoid several race incidents and came 5th in the Independents´ Trophy in race one and then improved his result bringing home 3rd place.
His teammate Hugo Valente, with another Chevrolet, lost three laps due to mechanical issues and then finished 2nd after a closely-fought battle with Tom Chilton and Mehdi Bennani. Unfortunately, both Valente and Bennani were given two 30-second penalties and the driver of Campos Racing dropped to 4th privateer.
Hungaroring hosts next WTCC round on 2-3 May.
