Indonesia´s racer finished fourth during today´s GP2 race with one of the cars entered by Campos Racing. Pic came 13th
Campos Racing and its driver Rio Haryanto played another major role during the feature race at Hungaroring. But tire wear –which affected Arthur Pic´s car as well- prevented the Indonesian driver from taking another podium finish.
Yesterday, Pic qualified third with his teammate Haryanto also setting a competitive qualifying time to start from seventh place today. At the start Pic kept rivals at bay retaining his third place, with Haryanto losing two places behind. Both drivers pitted before lap 11 but finally their pit strategies didn´t pay off.
Haryanto was able to move up to second place, behind Stoffel Vandoorne, when each and every driver made mandatory pit stops. In fact he was the virtual leader as Vandoorne was given a 5-second penalty for his race time after the pit-lane infringement and Haryanto was right behind. But tire degradation got worse and Haryanto was passed by Alex Lynn, Pierre Gasly and Sergey Sirotkin, the Russian on the last lap and damaging Rio´s front wing. But he still managed to finish fourth. Pic, with similar tire wear issues, took 13th place.
Haryanto still sits third in the drivers´ championship but now only two points behind Alexander Rossi. Tomorrow Haryanto will start 5th on the grid. Sprint race takes place at 10.35.
