Local hero Guerrieri finished second in the WTCC Trophy at the wheel of his Campos Racing Chevrolet RML Cruze TC1. Filippi finished 5th twice
Campos Racing enjoyed an extremely weekend in the World Touring Car Championship. The Autódromo Termas de Río Hondo race track played host to the Race of Argentina. Full-season driver John Filippi and local hero and debutant Esteban Guerrieri achieved good results for the whole Campos Racing team.
After both free practice sessions Guerrieri and Filippi headed into qualifying aiming for yet another best result of the season. Argentina´s racer claimed an impressive 5th in Q2 with a lap of 1:43.114 after emerging fastest in Q1. Besides, Guerrieri was 2nd WTCC Trophy driver classified. On the other hand, Filippi was equally brilliant with 10th on the grid and 5th privateer.
In race 1 (Opening race) Filippi came fifth but Guerrieri retired after four laps after being hit by steering problems following a clash with Tiago Monteiro. In race 2 (Main race), and with Campos Racing making their best to repair Guerrieri´s car on time, the Argentinean driver delivered a great performance to finish 5th and second on the WTCC Trophy podium. Filippi was tenth and fifth in class.
The Race of Japan takes place at the Twin Ring Motegi next month.
