Finland’s driver extended his streak of positive results and crossed the line in sixth place both days. Das came 8th on Sunday. Iorio collected another point with tenth in Race one. Vivacqua experienced tough race weekend
Campos Racing contested Round 7 of the Euroformula F3 Open this weekend at Jerez. Simo Laaksonen, Cameron Das, Matheus Iorio and Thiago Vivacqua ran into mixed luck in southern Spain.
After three free practice sessions on Friday, Campos Racing headed to Q1 in good spirits. Laaksonen spearheaded the charge for Campos Racing by taking third spot on the starting grid. Iorio qualified 11th-fastest and his teammates Das and Vivacqua lined up fourteenth and fifteenth. Laaksonen dropped to seventh at the start but still overtook Ben Hingeley for sixth. After 20 laps, the Finnish driver crossed the finish line in sixth place. Iorio picked up a point finishing tenth, just ahead of Das. Vivacqua retired on lap one after a collision.
On Sunday qualifying session, Laaksonen clocked the sixth fastest time and Das also made it into the top-ten in tenth place. Iorio and Vivacqua set to start from 12th and 15th respectively. Laaksonen remained in sixth place after the start and captured another good result for Campos Racing. Das gained two places and finished eighth this time. Vivacqua’s charge gave him a 12th place at the end of the race. Iorio ended up 18th after a pit stop to change the nose cone on lap one.
The curtain will come down in Barcelona next 28-29 October.
