Defending Formula E champion Piquet Jr., driving a car of Nextev TCR Formula E, and Bruno Senna, with another Dallara entered by Mahindra Racing, forced to retire when they both were in the top-seven
Lady luck not a Campos Racing´s side in Uruguay, currently running the cars entered by Nextev TCR Formula E and Mahindra Racing in the FIA Formula E series. Nelson Piquet Jr, driving one of the cars racing under the Nextev TCR Formula E banner, and Bruno Senna, with another car of Mahindra Racing, weren´t unable to achieve the results desired at the end of the race.
In qualifying, Senna granted to start from 9th on the grid alongside Oliver Turvey (Nextev TCR Formula E) setting lap times of 1:16.018 and 1:16.154 respectively. Piquet finished 12th-fastest (1:16.300) with newcomer Oliver Rowland (Mahindra Racing) 16th and a best lap of 1:19.414.
Later, in the race, Senna was 6th but Brazil´s racer was forced to retire. Piquet Jr. had a closely-fought battle with Jean-Eric Vergne, with both cars making contact. But, at the chicane, he lost the rear and slammed into the tire barrier. Turvey, after being given a penalty, came 12th ahead of Rowland, 13th on his debut.
The series resume on 6 February in Buenos Aires (Argentina).
