Clerebold Chan and Wah Wong join Campos Racing for Macanese round

Hong Kong’s drivers will be making their first appearance in the WTCC with two Campos Racing-entered Chevrolet RML Cruze TC1 cars

Campos Racing will have novelties heading into the penultimate round of the World Touring Car Championship and the Spain-based team will return to a two-car operation with two Chevrolets RML Cruze TC1. Switzerland’s Kris Richard made his debut in the series during the WTCC Race of Japan replacing Esteban Guerrieri. Now, Po Wah Wong and Kin-Pong Clerebold Chan are the latest drivers to join the ranks of Campos Racing as Guerrieri is still driving in the factory Honda line-up replacing Tiago Monteiro, who is recovering from injuries sustained in a crash while carrying out a private test.

Both Asian drivers are braced for a massive challenge as the Macau’s Circuito da Guia isn’t just an iconic venue for touring car racing but an extremely difficult race track on the calendar for debutants as well. After an absence of two years, the World Touring Car Championship is back in the famous street circuit. The perfect mix of narrow corners and fast, bumpy straights through the streets of the world’s gambling capital makes racing always something special. Campos Racing scored a podium finish in the series three years ago, a good starting point for the weekend.

As per results of the events in China and Japan, the RML-built Chevrolet cars will get added ten kilos.

Track action will kick off with Thursday`s free practice session. On Friday, there is scheduled a second free practice session with qualifying taking place at 13.25. Saturday’s Opening Race, consisting of 8 laps, is scheduled at 14.15 and Main Race, consisting of 11 laps, is slated to begin at 10.45 on Sunday. All times local.
