The streets of Monte Carlo’s Principality host Round 4 of the FIA Formula 2 with Ghiotto and Nissany aiming to shine at the most glamorous racing circuit in the world
Campos Vexatec Racing heads to Monte Carlo, which remains a challenging circuit for any driver, for another exciting double-header. The Spain-based team and its duo of Lucas Ghiotto and Roy Nissany arrive as serious contenders after a strong start to the season in Sakhir, Baku and Barcelona.
Italian Ghiotto capped off a strong weekend in Spain with a double top five result in the street circuit. His performance there is a good starting point for Monte Carlo, despite they are two very different circuits. Ghiotto expect to improve his season best’s fourth place next weekend and eyes podium. Nissany is showing excellent speed in the Formula 1-feeder series and is on the verge of clinching a strong result.
Monaco features the race with lowest average speed and its tight, slow corners leave no margin for error. Besides, the surface is the least abrasive of the season and grip level is also critical. Teams and drivers focus on the importance of mechanical grip rather than aerodynamic grip.
Thursday’s free practice session takes place at 09.15 (CET) with qualifying being split into two sessions at 13.20 (CET) and 13.44 (CET) later that day. Race 1 is scheduled on Friday at 11.30 (CET) and “sprint” race 2 will take place on Saturday at 17.20 (CET).
