Ghiotto achieved a double podium finish in Le Castellet and aims to repeat success at Red Bull Ring. Nissany scored his best career FIA Formula 2 finish and expects another marked improvement in Austria
Just one week after the French venue, the FIA Formula 2 has scheduled its Round 6 in the frame of Austrian Grand Prix at Red Bull Ring. Luca Ghiotto and Roy Nissany feel confident to keep the podium streak alive in the Styrian mountains.
Red Bull Ring reminds Campos Vexatec Racing of very good memories of past seasons. The Spain-based team scored a crushing 1-2 finish in the 2016 GP2 Series season and the previous year achieved another win in the main Formula 1 feeder series.
Ghiotto and Nissany are following an upward trend throughout the 2018 season. In fact, Ghiotto clinched two podiums results for the Campos Vexatec Racing in Le Castellet last weekend and his goal is to keep the string of rostrums. After a top-ten finish at Paul Ricard, Nissany heads to Austria in hopes of gaining some valuable points.
The original Österreichring was a very fast circuit. The current layout is still extremely challenging despite it is only nine corners long. Spielberg is all about acceleration and braking and, in comparison with Paul Ricard, asphalt is smoother.
Friday’s qualifying session will take place at 13.00 (CET). As usual, Race 1 with compulsory pit stop is scheduled at 16.45 (CET). Sunday’s Race 2 will get underway on Sunday at 11.00 (CET).
