Campos Racing to mount fightback at Monza

After experiencing bad luck at Spa-Francorchamps, when Pulcini was forced to retire when a tear off strip lodged in his car radiator and with Laaksonen and Menchaca also finishing outside of the points, the Spain-based team expects to move into podium contention again

The ultra-fast Monza circuit plays host to the antepenultimate round of the 2018 GP3 Series season and Campos Racing aims to fight back with good results after a difficult weekend in Belgium. Leonardo Pulcini, who will be in the spotlight at his home round, Simo Laaksonen and Diego Menchaca eye to play a leading role again in their Campos Racing-run Dallara GP3/16 cars.

Pulcini still lies fourth in the Drivers’ standings despite couldn’t collect points at Spa-Francorchamps. The Italian young ace, who has three podium finishes to his name this season, got ruined his recovery drive on Sunday when a rival’s tear off strip lodged in his car radiator. Pulcini had moved up to sixth after starting from the back of the grid. Both Mexican Menchaca and Finnish Laaksonen had a troublesome race weekend and they couldn’t shine in the Ardennes.

The high speed nature of Monza and low downforce configuration means braking and acceleration are tricky for the drivers. Besides, the slipstream strategy b plays a key role both in qualifying and race.

Race 1 is scheduled on Saturday at 10.30 (CET) with race 2 taking place on Sunday at 09.40 (CET).
