Campos Racing and its three-car line up of Deledda, Fernández and Peroni head to Italy for its penultimate round of the season in the FIA Formula 3 Championship
Heading into the penultimate round of the FIA Formula 3 Championship, Campos Racing aims to have strong results in the upcoming Italian races at Monza, which is known worldwide as the “Temple of Speed”. The Valencia-based team will enter their three Dallara F3 2019 cars for Alessio Deledda, Sebas Fernández and Alex Peroni and expect to get their drivers up into contention for points.
Australian Peroni showed good qualifying pace at Spa-Francorchamps last weekend, unfortunately he saw his hopes dashed when a rival collided with his car at the start and sent him into the wall. Peroni already scored two finishes in the points-paying positions. Fernández and Peroni managed to put in good recovery drives in Belgium and the Italian venue is to take a step forward to collect some points. Deledda will be competing in front of the Italian home fans, which is always a morale booster.
Monza’s long straights make it the fastest circuit of the season and teams must focus on low-downforce configurations to maximize top speeds. Besides, grid position is usually less important than at other circuits. Some famous corners such as the Curva Grande and the Parabolica feature a unique high-speed experience for every driver.
Friday’s free practice and qualifying sessions will take place at 09.35 and 17.50. Race 1 is scheduled at 10.30 on Saturday with Sunday’s race 2 at 09.30. All times are local (GMT+2).
