Aitken and Boccolacci look forward to the start of the 2019 season under the banner of Campos Racing
The final countdown for the start of the 2019 FIA Formula 2 Championship season is on as the opening round takes place in Bahrain next weekend. Campos Racing heads to Middle East after a strong preseason testing in which the team of Adrian Campos worked hard to ensure that they left no stone unturned in their preparation for the new season in the main Formula 1 feeder series.
The Campos Racing-run Dallara F2018 cars will be driven by the new driver line-up of British-Korean Jack Aitken and Frenchman Dorian Boccolacci. Both drivers delivered positive performances in collective testing and it’s now time to translate that pace onto strong results.
The Bahrain International Circuit, a stop-start track, demands excellent traction and high temperatures normally affect tires just like its characteristic abrasive surface.
Both free practice and qualifying sessions will take place on Friday at 11.30 and 16.50. Saturday’s race with one mandatory pit-stop is scheduled at 13.10 with the weekend coming to an end with sprint race on Sunday at 14.15. All times local (GMT +3).
Jack Aitken: “I am very excited to start the first round of the FIA Formula 2 season this weekend. After testing going well I am expecting us to challenge the front of the field. More than anything though, I am looking forward to racing with my team Campos Racing!”
Dorian Boccolacci: “I am very happy to be back racing this weekend for the first round of the Formula 2 championship! I have really good memories of Bahrain: I was starting from Pole Position here in 2013 at the World Championship in karting. I didn’t race on the Grand Prix track before but we worked hard to prepare for the race. I will give it my all this weekend to have a strong result!”
Adrián Campos (Campos Racing President): “Bahrain is the start of a new season. After many years competing in motorsport I can guarantee that the team still has the same strong fighting spirit, motivation and dreams as in the years before. We have been working hard to develop a competitive car and with Jack and Dorian there is no doubt that we can have strong results. We are ready to fight for the win!”
