After luck wasn’t on Pulcini’s side in the last races, the Italian driver will want to recreate the sort of form that saw him scoring three podiums. Laaksonen, who completed his best weekend of the season at Monza, and Menchaca will be other drivers to closely follow in their Campos Racing-entered D
Campos Racing will face the Russian venue of the GP3 Series, which will take place at the Sochi Autodrom, with renewed spirit next weekend. The three-car assault will consist of young talents Leonardo Pulcini, Simo Laaksonen and Diego Menchaca, who already achieved excellent results in a season more closely fought than ever.
Pulcini currently sits fifth in the Drivers’ standings after claiming a second and a third place at the Red Bull Ring and then finishing second at the Hungaroring once again. Unfortunately Pulcini didn’t have Lady Luck on his side at Spa-Francorchamps and Monza where a couple of issues prevented from stepping onto the podium. Finland’s Laaksonen had his best weekend of the season at Monza by finishing fourth and eighth on Italian soil. Menchaca will be another driver with good potential but, unlike Laaksonen, he has never raced at Sochi before.
Sochi has a wide variety of different corners and a smooth asphalt and it’s a compromise between braking and traction. As a result of its usual mild temperatures, tire degradation is expected to be low.
Saturday’s race 1 is scheduled at 16.20 (CET) with race 2 on Sunday at 8.25 (CET).
