Campos Racing drivers topped the charts during the three-day collective testing hosted in Jerez
Campos Racing made a strong start to the FIA Formula 2 Championship preseason testing, which kicked off at the Circuito de Jerez over the last three days. Both Campos Racing-entered Dallara F2 2018 cars painted in the distinctive orange colors for 2019, showed excellent competitiveness driven by Jack Aitken and Dorian Boccolacci.
On Tuesday, Aitken and Boccolacci hit the track for the first time, and both drivers completed more than 100 laps getting into the 1:26’s. On Wednesday, as track grip improved, lap times also were quicker. Boccolacci posted a lap time of 1m25.493s to go quickest in the afternoon session. Aitken also improved well over a second his previous best lap time to secure a front-runner position.
On the final day, Aitken posted the second fastest time in the morning with a lap time of 1m24.240s, which a mere 43 thousandths of a second quicker than Boccolacci’s best lap time. Campos Racing and its drivers could complete the collective test according to plan thanks to excellent weather conditions.
FIA Formula 2 Championship’s preseason testing will resume on 5-7 March at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
