Campos Racing faces new high-voltage challenges in Macau

The Spanish outfit will enter its three car armada for Leonardo Pulcini, Enaam Ahmed and Alessio Deledda at the 66th Suncity Grupo Macau Grand Prix – FIA Formula 3 World Cup

Campos Racing heads to Macau to take part at the 66th Suncity Grupo Macau Grand Prix – FIA Formula 3 World Cup this weekend. The Spain-based team will enter its three Dallara F3 2019 cars for a young trio of talents comprised of Leonardo Pulcini, Enaam Ahmed and Alessio Deledda.

Pulcini will make his debut in the streets of the Circuito da Guia, the narrow street circuit with several ultra-fast sectors. The 2016 Euroformula Open Champion is coming back to Campos Racing with whom, apart from taking the title in the Formula 3-based series, also secured several wins and podium finishes in the GP3 Series.

This year will see the second start of Ahmed at the Macanese event after making his debut in 2018. The Briton will try to improve his results from last year and put himself in contention for a strong finish. Finally, Deledda will contest the Macau Grand Prix with a clear goal in mind: to put further experience under his belt. The Italian driver has made extensive improvements throughout the season and this weekend shall be another milestone in his racing career.

Campos Racing already has competed in Macau during its World Touring Car Championship days. The Macau Guia had remained almost unchanged since its first edition in 1954 but organizers has made several necessary changes as the power to weight ratio of the new F3 car necessitates a grade-two homologation. Famous bends such as Hotel Lisboa, Police or Melco will continue displaying closely-fought racing action during the races.

Q1 will take place on Thursday at 07.30 (GMT+1) with the second qualifying session on Friday at 8.10 (GMT+1). Saturday’s qualifying race is scheduled at 8:55 (GMT+1), which consists of 12 laps, with Sunday’s main race at 8.30 (GMT+1), which consists of 15 laps.

Adrián Campos (President of Campos Racing): “For forty years now, the Macau Grand Prix is the most important Formula 3 and besides it is litmus test to launch drivers’ careers. Personally, I raced there many years ago and I know how challenging the circuit is. For the very first time there are new F3 cars introduced and despite it is our first participation with single-seaters, we feel confident with our driver line-up.”

Enaam Ahmed (Driver of Campos Racing): “I’m really happy to be racing for Campos Racing in Macau. I got on well with the team in Valencia and I enjoyed working with them. This weekend will be a lottery so I hope we gamble well!”

Leonardo Pulcini (Driver of Campos Racing): “Just arrived in Macau. What an amazing place to race! I’m so happy to be back with Campos Racing, we know each other very well, so I can’t wait to get back on track! First time for me in Macau, it will be a challenging race and I am ready”.
