Campos Racing eye strong GP3 Series weekend in Austria

Pulcini is consolidating his title bid in his Campos Racing- run Dallara GP3/16. Laaksonen and Menchaca expects to return to points scoring after a tough Round 2 last weekend

Campos Racing prepare for Round 3 of the GP3 Series at Red Bull Ring this weekend with its trio of Leonardo Pulcini, Simo Laaksonen and Diego Menchaca expecting to be very competitive in Austria.

Located in the amazing scenery of the Styrian Mountains, Red Bull Ring is an iconic motorsport venue hosting Formula 1 Grand Prix races from 1970 and 1987. Then, it was still known as the Österreichring and its layout was very fast but dangerous so it went many changes over the years. At the moment, the current layout is 4.326 km long with only nine turns. Last year, Campos Racing won the second GP3 race on Sunday. Austrian races are normally extremely action-packed with narrow margins and to find a clean lap in qualifying is rather hard due to traffic.

Italian Pulcini, who posted the pole position at the curtain-raiser event in Barcelona, currently sits fifth in the Drivers’ Standings on 29 points thanks to two fourth places. His teammates Finnish Laaksonen and Mexican Menchaca scored points on their debut in the GP3 Series and now focus on improving their chances of finishing higher in Spielberg.

Saturday’s race 1 is scheduled at 10.25 (CET) with race 2 on Sunday at .9.45 (CET).
