Pulcini, Laaksonen and Menchaca carried out two positives days of testing at the Circuito de Jerez, which was the penultimate dress rehearsal before season start. Pulcini fastest in southern Spain
After a promising start at Paul Ricard last February, Campos Racing has extended its positive feeling from the data collected in GP3 Series’ preseason testing at Circuito de Jerez this week. The trio of drivers, Italy’s Leonardo Pulcini, Finland’s Simo Laaksonen and Mexico’s Diego Menchaca have done an outstanding job all week in their Campos Racing-run Dallara GP3/16 cars.
On Wednesday, Pulcini headed the timesheets with his lap of 1:31.561 in the morning for a long time before several drivers improved his time at the end. In the afternoon, Pulcini also spearheaded the charge for Campos Racing with a lap time of 1:30.543 to secure 3rd spot. Laaksonen finished 5th by clocking a time of 1:30.764 and Menchaca turned a best lap of 1:31.521.
Today, Laaksonen led the way showing strong pace in the wet morning. As times improved later in the session, both Pulcini and Laaksonen made it into the top-ten with lap times of 1:32.363 and 1:32.632 respectively. On the other hand, Menchaca posted a personal best time of 1:33.315 in the morning. But Pulcini’s best effort came in the afternoon with a 1:30.255 setting the fastest time overall of the two day-test. Laaksonen and Menchaca clocked lap times of 1:32.632 and 1:33.315.
The final collective test session will take place at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on April 17-18.
