Italian Pulcini ranks third in the Drivers’ Standings with four rounds remaining. Laaksonen and Menchaca look to shine as well
The GP3 Series resumes after the traditional summer break at Spa-Francorchamps and Campos Racing will enter its three-car assault for Leonardo Pulcini, Simo Laaksonen and Diego Menchaca. The Spain-based team is completing a solid season and the event in the frame of the Grand Prix of Belgium offers another chance for its young guns to shine.
Pulcini sits third in the standings on 99 points with two second place finishes and a third to his name this season. The Italian driver particularly excelled in Austria and Hungary and keeps his title hopes alive in the second part of the season. Finnish Laaksonen and Mexican Menchaca are making their debut in the series and secured valuable championship points in the previous races. On the other hand, Campos Racing occupies third place in the Teams’ standings.
Spa-Francorchamps features big changes in elevation with Eau Rouge, La Source or Les Combes being some of its most famous names. Besides, as drivers generally spend plenty of time at full throttle, the mammoth 7.004-kilometre circuit is extremely demanding.
Unlike previous rounds, qualifying is due to take place on Friday afternoon instead of Saturday. Saturday’s race 1 is scheduled at 09.35 (CET) with race 2 on Sunday at the same hour.
