Italian Pulcini shows strong preseason form in the GP3 Series. Laaksonen and Menchaca also secured top-ten places during the week
GP3 Series’ preseason testing came to an end today at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya with Campos Racing and its trio of drivers consolidating their chances to fight for wins and podium finishes at every race this year. Besides, this last test took place at the same circuit where the season kicks off the season in the frame of the Spanish F Grand Prix.
Campos Racing drivers turned 448 laps over the two days of testing. Leonardo Pulcini led the way for Campos Racing scoring a best lap of 1m32.785s in the afternoon on the medium compound tire used by everyone this week. Simo Laaksonen’s best lap time was 1m33.749s and Diego Menchaca clocked a time of 1m34.603s.
Today, Pulcini still improved his best lap time from yesterday, shaving a further seven tenths of a second off to round out the top five (1m32.073s). It’s worth mentioning that both Mexican Menchaca and Finn Laaksonen were seventh and ninth fastest respectively setting a tone for the season.
The engines will roar again next 12-13 May.
