Campos Racing is highly motivated ahead of its home round at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, which will host Round 3 of the FIA Formula 2 Championship in the frame of the Spanish Grand Prix. Jack Aitken and Dorian Boccolacci are determined to keep up their strong form after a brilliant weekend in Azerbaijan.
Briton Aitken stormed to the Feature Race win in the streets of Baku after a faultless performance in his Campos Racing-run Dallara F2 2018. Aitken secured another podium finish with third place in the sprint race the next day. Therefore, Aitken ranks second with 43 points in the Drivers’ standings. Frenchman Boccolacci also bagged a strong points haul towards the championship by finishing fifth and seventh at the Baku City Circuit.
The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya features a complex layout with characteristic hot and dry weather conditions. Due to the circuit got a new surface last year, the asphalt is now three times smoother than in previous seasons. Anyway, Turn 3 continues being a particularly demanding corner for tires.
Both, free practice and qualifying sessions will take place on Friday at 13.00 and 16.55. Saturday’s race with one mandatory pit-stop is scheduled at 16.40 with the weekend coming to an end with sprint race on Sunday at 11.30. All times are local (GMT +2).
