Alex Peroni takes another points-paying finish to bolster Campos Racing spirits

Australian Peroni battled his way into the points at Silverstone with a tenth place on Saturday. Fernández and Deledda experienced a tough weekend

Campos Racing continues to navigate the FIA Formula 3 learning curve as the series reached the halfway point of the 2019 season at Silverstone this weekend. Despite the Campos Racing trio made up of Alex Peroni, Sebastian Fernández and Alessio Deledda couldn’t achieve the expected goals, they are on the verge of strong results.

Spaniard Fernández qualified 19th on Friday with a lap time of 1m44.984s and Australian Peroni lined up 21st on the starting grid with his time of 1m45.088s. Italian Deledda set to start from 30th on the grid with a lap time of 1m47.068s.

Race 1 saw Peroni moving through the field and with his Campos Racing-run Dallara F3 2019 took the checkered flag in tenth place, the final points position. Further adrift, Fernández crossed the finish line in 20th and Deledda was out of the race after six laps.

On Sunday, Fernández and Peroni pushed for points but unfortunately the latter headed into the pit lane after a few laps following a clash with another rival and retire from the race. Fernández finished 15th after 20 laps and Deledda took the checkered flag in 25th place.

The FIA Formula 3 resumes at the Hungaroring on 3-4 August.
