Filippi and Campos Racing climb onto the podium in the WTCC Race of Japan

Good Motegi event yields double points finish for Corsica´s Filippi and Campos Racing

The Twin Ring Motegi proved to be a fertile ground for Campos Racing and Corsican young ace John Filippi. Filippi stepped onto the podium in race one with his Campos Racing-entered Chevrolet RML Cruze TC1. Filippi managed to secure another podium finish in WTCC Trophy class in the World Touring Car Championship.

Following two rewarding free practice session with Filippi ranking fourth and tenth overall in the timesheets, the Frenchman headed into the qualifying in good spirits. Filippi qualified fifth among privateer drivers with a lap time of 1:59.119 set in Q1. Filippi did put a recovery driver in Sunday´s Opening race. Overtaking several cars both in overall and class classifications, Filippi moved up to third and managed to keep Daniel Nagy at bay to finish third on the podium. Later in Main race, Filippi delivered another strong performance to come fifth in class and strengthening his fourth place in the drivers´ standings. Similarly, Campos Racing also ranks fourth in the WTCC Teams´ Trophy classification.

The World Touring Car Championship will continue its Asian mini-season in China, in three weeks ´ time.
