The 2022 FIA Formula 3 Championship season will reach the halfway point in Spielberg this weekend. Campos Racing will be contesting the third tier in the FIA Global Pathway with their young driver line-up of David Vidales, Pepe Martí and Hunter Yeany. The Red Bull Ring, which hosts the F1 Austrian Grand Prix, predicts another thrilling double header, the second out of three in July.

Spaniard Vidales has become a FIA F3 race winner earlier this season at his home round in Barcelona. From the pole position, Vidales took a lights-to-flag race win and is regularly finishing into the points-paying positions. In fact, he has brought points home in all the previous rounds including Bahrain, Imola, above mentioned Barcelona and Silverstone. Yeany and Martí will focus on following his steps into the points. American Yeany is continuously making progress at the wheel of his Dallara machinery and gaining speed both in qualifying and race conditions. Martí’s performance at Silverstone can just described as brilliant after overtaking 28 cars in both races. The Spaniard is also making an impression on his international racing debut.

The Red Bull Ring was built in the Styrian Mountains and was previously named Österreichring and A1-Ring. The current layout, rebuilt in 2008, still features the same characteristics of the old circuit opened in 1969. It consists of 4,318 meters of ups and downs with two very fast first sectors and a third one more technically demanding. Qualifying is key due to traffic and action-packed track time. Besides, there are very small differences and a couple of tenths make a big difference. Regarding the set-up, Spielberg is all about traction and braking in terms of competitiveness. Finally, weather forecast predicts showers on Friday and Sunday to spice things up further.

Both free practice and qualifying sessions will take place on Friday at 09.55 and 15.00 respectively. Saturday’s Sprint race is scheduled at 10.35 with Sunday’s Feature race taking place at 08.35. All times are CET.

David Vidales (Campos Racing Driver in FIA Formula 3): “It's race week again! Let's keep the momentum from Silverstone and have another strong event in Austria.”

Hunter Yeany (Campos Racing Driver in FIA Formula 3): “Silverstone was a very positive weekend for us despite my mistake in race 2. I’m looking forward to bringing my best to Austria!”

Pepe Martí (Campos Racing Driver in FIA Formula 3): “Going into a 2nd race week in a row I’m really confident and hopeful that this weekend might be a good one for us. Red Bull Ring is an exciting track and after our comeback weekend in Silverstone making up to 28 overtakes in 2 races makes it’s one that I’m really looking forward to.
