Campos Racing drivers unleash pace in Jerez testing

All three Campos Racing drivers performed excellently during FIA Formula 3 collective testing held at Circuito de Jerez

Campos Racing completed a fruitful, promising two-day test of FIA Formula 3 Championship in Jerez. The Valencia-based racing team headed to Southern Spain for preparing the European stage on the calendar. Hunter Yeany, David Vidales and Pepe Martí had a chance to run both in wet and dry conditions gathering valuable information for the upcoming rounds of the 2022 season.  

On Tuesday, which was marred by rain particularly in the morning, saw Spaniard Martí clocking the 7th-fastest lap time in the opening session. Martí clocked a lap time of 1m40.944s. Further adrift, American Yeany posted a best lap of 1m41.652s and Vidales stopped the clock with a personal best of 1m41.841s. As track conditions improved in the afternoon, lap times were significantly quicker. Martí was the fastest Campos Racing driver once again emerging 2nd-fastest on the times screen with a lap time of 1m33.666s, which he posted in the dying moments of the session. Vidales, who sit in the top-3 for the most part of the session, finally finished tenth with a lap time of 1m34.901s, immediately ahead of Yeany with a best time of 1m34.913s. 

On the second day, with much better weather and track conditions, Vidales spearheaded the Campos Racing’s charge with a lap time of 1m31.269s. His fellow countryman Martí finished right behind on the timesheets after clocking a time of 1m31.304s and Yeany was either close with his best lap of 1m31.506s. In the afternoon, Vidales clocked a lap time 1m30.157s, two and a half tenths quicker than Martí’s personal best of 1m30.401s. Yeany stopped the clock in a lap time of 1m30.693s.  

A second two-day collective testing will take place in Barcelona next week, on 15-16 April.
