Campos Racing will contest the eighth round of the 2022 FIA Formula 2 Championship season this weekend in the frame of the Austrian Grand Prix. Carved out of the Styrian hills, the Red Bull Ring will see another exciting double header with the Spanish based racing team expecting translate performance into strong results.

Briton Olli Caldwell, with experience on the Austrian track with FIA F3 last year, won’t be joined by Swiss racer Ralph Boschung in Spielberg. The #15 MoonMobile Dallara car will be driven by Spaniard Roberto Merhi while Boschung’s injury is fully recovered.

The short 4.3-kilometer and 10-corner lap means is always difficult to complete a clean lap in qualifying. Traditionally, the Red Bull Ring features action-packed racing and intense lights-to-flag battles. Besides, due to its clockwise running most of the corners are right-handers but paradoxically the two most demanding ones are left-handers. Traction and braking are two areas in which cars must excel to be competitive. Pirelli has nominated P Zero Yellow medium and P Zero Purple supersoft compounds for this weekend.

Both free practice and qualifying sessions will take place on Friday at 11.05 and 15.55 respectively. Saturday’s Sprint race is scheduled at 17.55 with Sunday’s Feature race, with mandatory pit stop for tires change, taking place at 10.05. All times are CET.

Adrián Campos (Campos Racing Team Principal): “I really hope that Olli finally can make into the points, a goal that surely, he deserves according his effort and performances. Regarding Roberto, he has a huge challenge ahead but I’m sure all together we will fight for a strong weekend.”

Olli Caldwell (Campos Racing driver of FIA Formula 2): “Really excited to be heading to Austria this weekend. It’s a track I know well and enjoy driving at, I had good results there last year in F3 so will hope to get some positive achievements on my return there in F2.”
