Campos Racing will contest the eleventh round of the 2022 FIA Formula 2 Championship season this weekend. After a four-week hiatus, the Formula 2-based racing series will head to Belgium for another exciting double header in the frame of the Belgian F1 Grand Prix. The Spanish-based racing team will have some interesting novelties regarding its roster with a completely new driver line-up.

Swiss driver Ralph Boschung is back in the saddle driving the MoonMobile Dallara car after remaining sidelined four rounds at Silverstone, Red Bull Ring, Paul Ricard and Hungaroring. Previously, despite his severe neck pain, Boschung had made it into the points in Baku but his facet syndrome forced him to withdraw from Monaco and Barcelona as well. Boschung will be expecting to be back on form as soon as possible. The Swiss racer stepped onto the podium in third at Imola after a double fourth place finish at Sakhir’s season opener.

Unfortunately, Briton Olli Caldwell is set to sit out the next round after receiving his 12th penalty point of the season in Hungary. German Lirim Zendeli will replace Caldwell in Belgium at the wheel of the #14 Dallara F2 car. Zendeli, a 22-year-old racer, is a seasoned single-seater driver with including previous experience in the FIA Formula 2 Championship.

Spa-Francorchamps is one of the most beloved tracks by drivers and racing enthusiasts. The mammoth Belgian venue, which it is still the longest on the current calendar at 7.004km, is located in the foothills of the Ardennes. Despite some minor layout changes made to Spa-Francorchamps to convert it into a safter place, its DNA remains unchangeable. High forces are put through the tires particularly at Eau Rouge-Raidillon with other well-zones zones such as La Source, Blanchimont or Kemmel conserving their key role for a competitive lap time. Last but not least, changeable weather is another characteristic of Spa-Francorchamps. In fact, some rain is forecasted at some point throughout the weekend. Pirelli has selected P Zero Yellow medium and P Zero Red soft tires for Spa-Francorchamps.

Free practice and qualifying sessions will take place on Friday at 11.35 and 18.30 respectively. Saturday’s sprint race is scheduled at 18.00 with Sunday’s main race, which includes a mandatory pit stop for tire change, taking place at 10.20. All times are CET.

Adrian Campos (Team Principal of Campos Racing): “We will have remarkable novelties at Spa. We are pleased to have Ralph (Boschung) back in his MoonMobile Dallara. If he feels well physically, I have no doubts he will fight for good results. After the last sanction imposed by the FIA, unfortunately, we cannot have Olli (Caldwell) with us this weekend. Lirim (Zendeli) comes in his place and I wish him a very good weekend, we know he has been out for a year but we hope he will have a quick adaptation to the car and I think that with all the support of the team we can have a good weekend together.”

Ralph Boschung (Campos Racing driver of FIA Formula 2): “It’s good to be back. It’s been the toughest times of my career lately but I’m happy I can try to race again in Spa. Of course, I will know once I drive how the neck will react so I will remain cautiously optimistic. Campos Racing deserve great results as we have shown beginning of the season so I will do my best in order to achieve this”

Lirim Zendeli (Campos Racing driver of FIA Formula 2): “I‘m very excited and happy to be racing a Formula 2 car again. It’s been a year now since my last time in F2 and I’m looking forward to this experience. Spa has been good to me last time I drove there in Formula 3 winning the feature race. Taking over the keys from Olli Caldwell will be a big challenge but I will try my best to find the limits again as soon as possible. I also want to thank Olli and Campos Racing for their trust in me and I’ll give it my all to return it in good results.”
