The Alzira-based team remains in first place in the teams’ standings after the two races at Silverstone. An extremely tricky qualifying session forced both Campos Racing drivers to fight their way through the field on both Saturday and Sunday

Round eight of the 2025 FIA Formula 2 campaign proved a tough challenge for Arvid Lindblad, Pepe Martí, and the whole Campos Racing squad. Nevertheless, the two Red Bull-backed drivers secured valuable points for the championship battle, with the Spanish team maintaining its lead in the teams’ standings once again.
Friday already showed how difficult it was to find single-lap speed during the morning’s free practice session. Lindblad and Martí posted lap times of 1m42.429s and 1m42.812s respectively. In the afternoon, strong gusts of wind during qualifying added further unpredictability as to when the fastest laps would be set. A red flag halfway through the session also disrupted the rhythm. Lindblad ended up in the always frustrating 11th place with a time of 1m40.500s, less than a tenth away from reverse grid pole for Saturday’s Sprint Race. Martí, unable to string together his best sectors on the same lap, posted a 1m41.333s which left him near the bottom of the timesheets.
Saturday’s Sprint Race, run over 21 laps, saw a great start from both Campos Racing drivers. Lindblad gained three places, while Spaniard Martí recovered no fewer than nine. Both were engaged in close battles during the first half of the race—Lindblad clashed wheels with fellow Brit Luke Browning on lap six, while Martí fought hard with Kush Maini. From there on, the target was scoring points, and both had them within reach. At the chequered flag, Lindblad finished ninth, just one tenth behind eighth place, which would have earned him a point. Martí crossed the line right behind in tenth.
Sunday’s Feature Race, run over 29 laps and preceded by a heavy downpour that soaked the track, promised to be no less eventful. Despite the spray kicked up by the cars ahead, Lindblad and Martí once again made up places at the start. Lindblad was eighth at the end of the first lap, with Martí up to 13th. The Barcelona-born driver continued to move forward, overtaking Maini on lap four. With such a long race ahead, tire management on the wet compound was key before making the pit stop to switch to the most suitable tires for the track conditions. Both Campos Racing drivers stayed inside the top twelve until lap 20, when Lindblad was the first to pit. With the track still wet, he and the team opted for another set of wet tires—a decision that proved to be the right one as he went on to set the fastest lap. Shortly after, Martí also pitted and mirrored the tire strategy. Other drivers gambled on slicks but paid the price, going off track and triggering a safety car. The race was restarted with two laps to go, and in the closing chaos Lindblad and Martí secured eighth and ninth places, respectively. Lindblad also claimed the extra point for fastest lap.
After Silverstone, Campos Racing holds onto the lead in the teams’ championship with 153 points. Lindblad and Martí sit sixth and eighth in the drivers’ standings with 84 and 69 points respectively.
The championship will now take a short three-week break before heading to Spa-Francorchamps for round nine on July 26-27.
Arvid Lindblad (Campos Racing Driver in FIA Formula 2): “Overall, it was a difficult weekend in Silverstone. Struggled for pace throughout. In the first half of FP, we weren't particularly competitive. I thought I adapted well though. However, in F2, switching back, obviously it's not easy to transition. I thought I did a good job. Just didn’t have the speed, same in the races. Not on the same form as earlier this year. We’ll work closely with the team to fix things for Spa, where they were really good last year. I’m confident we’ll improve.”
Pepe Martí (Campos Racing Driver in FIA Formula 2): “Poor weekend at Silverstone, we struggled for pace throughout as a team, especially on Friday. We turned the tables a bit for the races and managed to pick up 19 positions in total across both races. It’s a shame to come away with only 2 points as it’s a track I really enjoy, anyhow, Spa and Hungary are up next and we are confident we will be back on track as competitive as ever before.”
