Campos Racing will contest the first-ever round of the all-women category F1 Academy, which kicks off the 2023 season this weekend in Spielberg. Campos Racing has always supported female drivers in motorsport and the new F1 Academy brings an opportunity to continue competing at the highest level with new talents. Nerea Martí, Lola Lovinfosse and Maite Cáceres will be at the wheel of the Campos Racing-run Tatuus T421 cars with Autotecnica-tuned engines.

The new category scheduled collective test sessions in Barcelona and Le Castellet earlier this month with Martí, Lovinfosse and Cáceres putting excellent mileage under their belt during four days. Martí finished in the top-five at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. French driver Lovinfosse was also pretty competitive as she took 7th place in the timesheets after two days. Uruguay’s Cáceres also set promising lap times despite she is making her first steps on the European motorsport scene. The team headed into Le Castellet a few days later with similarly positive results. The French testing came to an end with Spaniard Martí posting the 3rd-fastest lap time. Lovinfosse made her way up to fifth place in the standings. With all the 15-driver field covered by a second, Cáceres solidly improved and lowered her best lap times to finish in 11th place.

Campos Racing has restlessly worked during this week to properly prepare the Austrian venue on the calendar, the first one of seven. Traditionally, the Red Bull Ring features action-packed racing and intense lights-to-flag battles. Besides, due to its clockwise running most of the corners are right-handers but paradoxically the two most demanding ones are left-handers.

Friday will be devoted to two free practice sessions in the morning with both qualifying sessions scheduled at 15.10 and 15.30. All the three races will take place on Saturday. Race 1 (10.45) and Race 3 (17.20) will consist of 30 minutes with Race 2 (14.05) being slightly shorter, only 20 minutes.

Adrián Campos (Campos Racing Team Principal): “We are pleased taking part in the new category considering the DNA and racing history of Campos Racing. Recent testing in Barcelona and Le Castellet proved that we are competitive. It´s always difficult to make predictions ahead of the very first race, but our goal is to become frontrunners from the very beginning.”

Nerea Martí (Campos Racing Driver of F1 Academy): “I’m looking forward to starting a new season. I feel ready after completing several test days with the team, learning a lot and making steady progress for the very first race. I’m delighted to face up to this new challenge.”

Lola Lovinfosse (Campos Racing Driver of F1 Academy): “Spielberg is a completely new track, so it’s going to be a challenge weekend. The goal is to learn the circuit as quick as possible. I’m super excited as the new season is about to start. I’m ready to fight for making this season a success with my team.”

Maite Cáceres (Campos Racing Driver of F1 Academy): “I’m looking forward to making my debut after four productive testing days in Barcelona and Le Castellet. I have ahead a huge challenge, a first meeting of a new category on which is a new circuit to me. I feel committed to continue making progress at Red Bull Ring as my team is working at 100%. I need to keep pushing and make a positive start to the season.”
